Vulcun, the former League of Legends Pro LCS Championship Team, is launching a new Fantasy Sports site for League of Legends, the massively popular online MOBA from Riot Games. Vulcun has announced a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool for the 2015 LCS season, which is the largest ever prize pool for Fantasy eSports to-date.

How does it work? The site features daily free & paid contests in the salary-cap format. A user acts as a team’s manager, creating a roster of their favorite players within a limited team budget. Their roster then competes against everyone else’s rosters on a daily basis, netting them cash from the thousands available daily. The site currently features EU and NA LCS games.

Founders Ali Moiz & Murtaza Hussain are Internet veterans, with more than 30 years of combined experience in starting and running Internet start-ups. Moiz says “We’ve been passionate about and involved in the eSports scene for several years. I love the LCS, and never miss a game. Vulcun is a great way for all League fans to compete and win prizes while watching LCS games. We’re giving away $250,000 this season.”

Voyboy, a former Pro player who’s played with Curse (now Team Liquid), Dignitas and CLG, says “You guys might remember the old team Vulcun, this is a fantasy league by the same name, same guys, really awesome people.”

With the LCS tournament a week away, this is just in time for eager fans. Before Vulcun, eSports was largely just a spectator sport with no financial rewards for fans. With this prize pool, fans can now win amounts that approach what Pro players make playing the game professionally.

Vulcun has raised $1.3 million in funding from top-tier Silicon Valley investors including eVentures, Battery Ventures and 500Startups. Moiz says “We’re planning to re-invest every single dollar we make at increasing the prize pool for League fans. Our next goal for the prize pool: $1 million. With your support, we can get there this year.”
